Requirements for Maastricht University Scholarship
To be eligible for the Maastricht University Global Studies Scholarship, you need to fulfill the following criteria:
- You hold the nationality of a country in the Global South, here defined as countries in Africa, Asia (including the Middle-East), Latin-America and the Caribbean based on the definition of the OECD
- You do not have a dual nationality from a country in the Global North
- You have not previously enrolled in a degree-granting higher education program in the Netherlands. However, students who have taken part in exchange programs in the Netherlands are still eligible to apply.
- You must be under 35 years old as of September 1, 2025.
- You commit to being an active ambassador for Global Studies and UM throughout your studies and beyond by sharing your experiences in at least one informational session for students and/or other stakeholders.
Benefits of Maastricht University Scholarship
- An amount of €15,925 is provided for living expenses (€ 1,225 per month)
- The UM Global Studies Scholarship provides a full scholarship for a limited number of high-achieving bachelor’s students each academic year, which includes a tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend.
How to Apply for Maastricht University Scholarship
- Register for one of the participating master’s programmes at UM
- Once you have submitted your application via Studielink, you will receive a student ID number for UM.
- You will need a student number in order to complete and submit the Scholarship Application Form.
- Step 2: Please fill in the application form, you need to log in with your UM account
